Untitled Goose Game

You play a goose causing as much trouble as possible in a quiet English village, honking at people, stealing their belongings, and working through a short list of pranks in each area. There is no combat and no real danger, just quiet slapstick as you figure out how to make ordinary villagers' days worse. It is short, funny, and easy to finish in one or two sittings.

The verdict

A delightfully mean-spirited little game that gets more mileage out of being an obnoxious goose than seems possible.

Its to-do list puzzles are simple but cleverly layered, encouraging playful experimentation over strict solutions.

The muted, storybook art style and honking sound design turn petty mischief into genuine comedy.

Staying power

Short and sweet, best enjoyed in one or two sittings; there's limited reason to return once every prank has been pulled.

What it's like to play

You control a goose walking through a quiet English village, seen from above, and your goal in every area is worked off a short to-do list of mischievous tasks, like stealing a man's keys, honking to scare someone, or getting a boy locked out of his own garden. Movement is simple, waddling around with the stick, and one dedicated button makes the goose honk, which can startle people or animals, plus you can grab objects in your beak to carry, hide, or steal them. Your first ten minutes in the first garden area will have you figuring out how to get past a gardener who keeps chasing you off, probably by honking to distract him while you sneak past to grab something he is guarding.

Most of your time is spent quietly working through each area's to-do list, which requires a bit of trial and error and often some old-fashioned scheming, like realizing you need to make someone put an item down before you can steal it, or that one prank sets up the conditions for the next one. As you finish areas the village slowly reveals itself as one connected space, and once you finish the story once, a harder set of to-do lists unlocks that requires combining tricks across different parts of the map. A full playthrough of the main to-do lists takes about two to three hours, with the extra harder lists adding more time for anyone who wants it.

Session to session the appeal is pure mischief, and the game leans into the joke fully, with a lighthearted piano soundtrack that reacts to your actions and heightens every prank. What may frustrate newcomers is that a few of the puzzle solutions are picky about the exact way you need to position an object, and the whole experience is quite short for its price. If the idea of being a horrible, honking goose sounds funny to you, it earns every laugh it is going for.
